Wakeman Father & Son Bear Hunt

With 100 gr. by volume Blackhorn 209, Barnes T-EZ 290, Fed209A primer, Savage 10ML-BP I popped this 325 - 350 lb. bruin in northern Minnesota Thursday evening, just a few miles from the Canadian border. This was one heavy bear. Even after quartering it some four miles back in the woods, took quite a bit of doing to get it all out of the woods and back to camp. That part of the adventure went on until about 2 AM before the hide was cleaned, salted, and the meat was in the freezer.

My 81 year old Dad took his boar opening day, Tuesday, with the same load and his Savage 10ML-II laminate. Both were super-quick, super-clean, one shot kills. Looks like we will be eating bear steaks for quite a while around here. Dad is of course proud of his (at one time) young son; but son is far more proud of his father.
